Covid-19 brought about a massive change to all our lives, however on the plus side it felt like people were using lockdown as an opportunity for getting back into running or trying it out as part of their daily exercise. I really enjoyed running on the mostly traffic free roads and the surreal feeling of running through the ghost town like city centre.
In the initial stages we were restricted to staying local and not travelling for runs which saw a big increase in views to routes in local parks and although they didn’t make our top 10, races such as the Jimmy Irvine 10k and Nigel Barge 10k were popular. As restrictions eased, the longer distances picked up again giving us our Top 10 Routes in Lockdown (23 March to 31 August):
- 7 Hills of Hell
- Glasgow Green 5k
- The Southside Six
- Queen’s Park 5k
- Kelvingrove Park and Art Gallery 5k
- Glasgow Subrun
- Great Scottish Run – Half Marathon
- Hogganfield Park 5k
- Lochgoin Circuit – Whitlee Windfarm
- West Highland Way – Killearn Loop
