
This route is just over 10 miles and gives you a lot of options for mixing up your run.
Starting at the Botanics head along Great Western Road towards Dumbarton for 3 miles. You can use this section as a warm up then as you turn right through the wooded path onto the canal, introduce some faster miles or interval sessions along the canal. Run along the canal for six miles, coming off at Spiers Wharf, taking the bridge over the carriageway and continuing onto Great Western Road to complete your route.
Some of my favourite workouts on this route are to do alternate slow/fast miles or warm up for 3, then 6 mile tempo along the canal and cooling down to the end.
