The Dunky Wright 5k road race is hosted by Clydesdale Harriers and takes place in Clydebank.
The race offers a fast flat route which proves popular with running clubs from the surrounding area with some impressive finish times recorded. Entry is cheap and sign ups are taken on the day. It offers great PB potential as you get carried away with the fast club runners and hold on as much as you can for the finishing line.
It was last run in 2016 but sadly hasn’t featured in the race calendar since. The local Play Drome used by the organisers was closed and the opening of a soft play centre meant changes were needed to the route to avoid busy traffic. If you fancy having a go at this race route you will need to be very mindful of traffic and pick your time wisely.
The route starts with two laps round Clydebank Business Park which you exit via North Avenue onto Singer Road. After two sharp lefts, you are onto the Forth and Clyde Canal to try and hold the pace for about another 1500m to finish before the underpass leading to the shopping centre.
Let’s hope the Dunky Wright 5k reappears soon.
